Detailed description

Sculpture "From the sea" (2024)

The sculpture entitled "Out of the Sea" is an expressive clay sculpture in shades of blue and black, finished with metal leaf. It combines organic forms with symbolic meaning: the body of the figure is reminiscent of the curved movement of a wave and conveys the dynamism and vitality of the sea. The rough, textured surface reflects the untamed nature of the ocean, while the shiny accents of the leaf metal capture the reflection of light on the water. The figure seems to rise from the depths of the sea, symbolizing a connection between man and nature. The harmonious coloring and flowing form make the sculpture a tribute to the power and beauty of water. Finished with cold patina and metal leaf after firing.

About Ilona Schmidt

Since 2007 I have devoted myself to free artistic studies, with a focus on painting and sculpture.
My works have been presented in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad and have been nominated and awarded several times. I have been a member of the Professional Association for Fine Artists since 2013. In my paintings and sculptures I try to capture the complexity of the human being. By using different techniques and materials, I create works that appeal to the emotions and thoughts of the viewer and stimulate reflection. My artistic work is characterized by a deep engagement with people and their environment. I explore the relationships between the individual and society, between body and mind, between past and present. My aim is to use my art to build a bridge between the viewer and the subject matter depicted. I want to arouse emotions, raise questions and provide food for thought. Because for me, art is not only an expression of my own thoughts and feelings, but also a medium for making contact with other people and inspiring them.
