Petra Girschewski
I paint what occupies me or small encounters that want to be in the picture.
People and emotions inspire my pictures. I particularly focus on the expression in their eyes, which reveals so much about their mood. The feedback on my pictures, also from my collectors, touches me and confirms that I have captured the emotions. To touch without words.
I alternate between phases of painting on large and then small sizes. The same goes for the painting surfaces. Although the canvas is my painting surface in most of my works, cardboard, paper, glass, etc. also appeal to me to try out new things.
Painting a series on a theme and interpreting it in different ways spurs me on and excites me.

An inspiration, a mood, an experience or an encounter that touches me is the beginning ... then the creative process follows.
